We Landed...

With a five and a half flight, landing in a time zone that is five hours ahead of our body clock... things are a little rough and slightly blurred. Overall everything went well with our travels and accomodations here in Iceland. The weather is a little 'cool and 'rainy' but what the heck, we're on vacation and it is summer! I have posted new pictures of today’s events and will blog as often as I get WiFi. One major draw-back. The phone jacks over here do not fit my MagicJack hardware. I just knew I should have brought a small portable phone with us from home. That way I could bug you with this blog, photos, emails and phone calls! Keep in touch and follow the great adventures of Ruth & Ed's holiday.

Hey everybody, Scott is coming home, Scott is coming home, Scott is coming happy doggiehome… All be it for just a visit, Scott is coming home, Scott is coming home, Scott is coming home… I feel like a puppy when the owners leave for a little while and return to tap dancing in circles with tail and tongue in overdrive. He’s due in town on Saturday evening and will be with us for the week. Just in time as we ready for our trip to Iceland but that’s ok because, Scott is coming home, Scott is coming home, Scott is coming home…

Red Sky At Night...
Written by Ed Hathaway

This evening Mother Nature dumped a boat load of rain onto the Brown Bark Plantation. Nothing like our Holly Hail adventure but still packed with a great deal of thunder & lightning excitment. When the stormed passed, well the pictures below will best describe what was left behind. It reminds me of the old wise tale, “Red sky at morning, sailors take warning… Red sky at night, sailors delight". Taking this into account tomorrow should be an absolutely fantastic day. Can’t wait to see them Lepricons!

Going to the birds...

owl_tmb.jpgIn past articles I've talked about the different feathered wildlife that we have encountered here at the Brown Bark Plantation. There have been stories of hawks, hummingbirds and blue birds that up until recently were not part of the landscape. We can now add another species to our ever going list of audubon scenery...we have achieved an owl family. The one pictured here is a very young chap and Ruthie was brave enough to get quite close to for a quick snap. We have had overhead sightings of owls recently but nothing this up-close and personal. It hung around the front holly bush for several days to test out its flying ability and then off it went. Its kind of cool seeing birds of pray taking up resident at the ol' plantation…helps keep the creepy-crawley critters on their toes!
