Please allow us to introduce to you our newest family member, Chloe the pound puppy. Over the past few weeks we have been talking about getting a dog and discussing all of the pros and cons between getting a puppy or a slightly older dog knowing that whatever we settled upon, it was going to come from the County’s Animal Shelter. So the other day Ruthie called me on my cell to let me know that she was at the shelter just ‘window shopping’. Now, to our entire dog loving friends…”you just can not window shop when you’re in the market for a new dog and surrounded by a sea of toungs and tails”. That is like putting a kid inside a candy shop with the instructions not to touch or eat anything. It just can not be done!
Shortly after the third or forth call, my phone rang with a detailed description of our newest family member from a voice filled with happiness and reservation from the selection made. Chloe (originally named Tandy) is your typical ‘Heinz 57’ type pound puppy, a little bit of this and a little bit of that all mixed together. She is between 2 to 3 years old and has had at least one litter based on her belly and nipples. And as of this post everything seems to be going well as we all get to know each others lifestyle and habits. Chloe is very much a ‘ladies dog’ but seems to enjoy the romp of a man’s touch. She has already been accepted by the other neighborhood dogs and was quickly welcomed into their pack. The trip to Pets Mart yesterday was a big success and our local rabbit and squirrel population quickly found out that there was a new sheriff in town.
As our new adventure unfolds I’ll keep you all up-to-speed and in the loop. But for now, every day is a new experience and a new mystery of the great unknown.
